Egg Hunt (2019)

This interactive installation was a response to Helio Oiticica’s Eden and collective bodies gathered in a space with a shared goal or purpose. The purpose being to find a gift (mini wine bottle), from the artist to the viewer, hidden in amongst the objects of the installation. The participants had 8 minutes to rummage through the installation, inviting them to touch and rearrange the art, and thus not feel afraid to interact with art.

Whoever found the gift was free to keep it, and to keep anything from the installation that they pleased. This installation/performance aimed to question and destabilised established structures of experiencing artwork and watching performance art. It allowed for playful interaction with artwork, the idea that art and its arrangement is not sacred but there to be explored, and that participation in a live art performance can be entertaining and not intimidating; creating opportunities for freedom and childishness.
